Identifying Potential Research of Anthropogenic Activity on Biodiversity Based on Bibliography Analysis

This study utilized the Scopus database to examine 2874 publications from 2014 to 2024, focusing on the influence of anthropogenic activities on biodiversity. We examined trend of publication, subject area, keywords, most cited journal, most contributed country and author, the result show increasing trend in literature publication during initial phase (2014–2016) 16.7%, the expansion phase (2017–2019) around 21.29% and growth phase (2020–2024) around 62.04%. During expansion phase the topic mainly focus on disturbance, species richness, ecosystem service, but recent year biodiversity, pollution, eutrophication, anthropogenic disturbance, conservation, climate change, and urban ecology were the most trending topics. Top 15 most cited country were the United States as leading nations in terms of the number of journals output (16.75%), followed by China (10.66%), the United Kingdom (9.94%), Brazil (9.60%), Germany (7.60%). The Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (France) are the leading institutions responsible for fundamental research contributions in this topic of studies contributed 143 and 140 total output document. Top three essential journals in this field of study are Science of the Total Environment (9.87%), PLoS One (3.84%) and Ecological Indicator (3.53%). Based on Subject Areas Environmental science contributed 35.31%, Agricultural and Biological science 29.15%, Earth and Planetary science 8.41%. Future research should be prioritizing in metabacording, trace elements, environmental impacts, soil biodiversity, and limnology. The improvement of technologies and machine learning change the trends of research topic, through this insight our understanding about biodiversity research will be broadened.
