Abstract <p>This work is devoted to the study of the influence of mineral filler—waste from basalt production—on the permeability of paint and lacquer coatings (PLC). The results of the studies show that the introduction of the this filler does not lead to a decrease in the physical and mechanical characteristics of PLC; an improvement in protective properties is observed with a decrease in the permeability of coatings on a polyurethane (PU) and epoxy (EP) basis with an optimal ratio of fillers, which can be due to the presence of adsorbed functional groups on the surface of the filler, capable of influencing the film formation process. The study of the gel fraction content in the cured compositions shows an increase in the degree of curing of coatings with the introduction of the filler, which also confirms the assumption of its ability to influence the film formation process.</p>
