Abstract <p>The efficiency of charge carrier photogeneration in poly-N-vinylcarbazole films sensitized with thiophene[3,2-b]indole derivatives was determined using the electrophotographic method. For chemically similar thiophene[3,2-b]indole molecules, the measured photogeneration efficiency values differ by a factor of two, which is attributed to the varying efficiency of hole transfer from the photoconductive layer to the electrode.</p>
