An Analysis of the Effect of Ultradisperse Powder Additives on the Structure and Wear of Hard-Alloy Drill Plates under the Conditions of Impact–Abrasive Wear

Abstract
The paper presents the results of a study of the structural configuration, properties, and character of wear of prototype samples of drill plates with ultradisperse additives of MgAl2O4 powders. It is found that the introduction of ultradisperse additives of magnesium spinel into the composition of the furnace charge of a VK8 alloy promotes the formation of a fine-grained structure and also affects the change in the character of fracture from brittle to quasi-brittle.
