Abstract <p>The characteristics of ciliate communities of Samara oblast are considered according to the type of bloom by cyanobacteria: mixed or with a monodomination of different functional groups of phytoplankton. The most specific species composition of ciliates is observed in water bodies dominated by <i>Planktothrix agardhii</i>. In general, species of the class Spirotrichea in nonblooming water bodies gave way to species of the class Oligohymenophorea in blooming water bodies; nonselective omnivores and algivores ciliates have been replaced by bactivores detritivores and histophages, respectively.</p>
