Abstract <p>The zooplankton of the Volga River was studied in the summers of 2021–2023 in expeditions conducted by the Papanin Institute for Biology of Inland Waters, Russian Academy of Sciences. In 2021, the cladoceran <i>Diaphanosoma dubium</i> Manuilova, 1964 was recorded for the first time in Cheboksary Reservoir. In 2022–2023, this species was found in two sites of Kuybyshev Reservoir. The species abundance is less than 100 ind./m<sup>3</sup>; it is distributed in the mouth areas of the right tributaries of the Volga River.</p>
