Abstract

The paper presents the results of mathematical modeling of plasma transfer in a Spiral Magnetic Open Trap (SMOLA) created at the Budker Institute of Nuclear Physics, Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Plasma confinement is carried out due to the braking force that occurs when the plasma rotates in crossed electric and helical magnetic fields. The mathematical model is based on the stationary plasma transport equation. The influence of radial diffusion on the confinement effect is considered. The coefficients are determined at which the qualitative correspondence of the radial plasma distribution to the experimental data is achieved. A mathematical model has been developed to predict plasma confinement parameters in projected traps with a spiral magnetic field.
