Analysis of Associations of Temperament Traits with Prolactin Levels in Sakha (Yakut) Men Subjected to Stress in Childhood
摘要
The search for associations of temperament traits, such as introversion/extraversion and neuroticism, and prolactin (PRL) levels was performed in young Yakut people experienced stress in childhood. The study sample consisted of 18–27-year-old males (n = 121). The indices of introversion/extraversion and neuroticism were estimated using the Eysenck’s Personality Inventory (EPI). PRL level was measured in the blood serum by immunofluorescent method using the “DELFIA Prolactin” kit (Perkin-Elmer-Wallac, United States). We report for the first time that significantly higher level of PRL is characteristic of introverts in comparison with extroverts (p = 0.002) and of individuals with moderate neuroticism as compared to those with high neuroticism (p = 0.01). Stress experience in childhood was associated with lower level of PRL (p = 0.01).
