Abstract— <p>The NICA accelerator complex (JINR) [1] includes a linac of heavy ions (LHI), designed to inject ions with a mass-to-charge ratio A/Z ≤ 6.35 into the storage Booster synchrotron. Commissioning work with accelerated Xe<sup>28+</sup> ions has shown that the intensity of the heavy ion beam is insufficient for the Collider experiments. The last acceleration session ended in February 2023. It has been devoted to the preparation of the collider for operation, as well as the slow extraction of a beam with an energy of 3.9 GeV/n for the BM@N experiment. To increase the beam intensity, a multiple injection technique has been developed and tested. The article presents the results of setting up the multiple injection mode for experiments with heavy ions at the NICA collider.</p>
