Abstract

Analytical methods for regionalizing input-output tables have proven to be an effective tool for analyzing regional economies. However, the limitations of such methods in accounting for interregional trade can lead to distortions in assessing the spatial structure of production and consumption. In particular, existing approaches do not always ensure consistency between regional tables, which complicates modeling the economic effects of interregional interaction. This article proposes an approach for constructing a consistent interregional input-output balance table (IRIO) for Russia. The methodology is based on integrating regionalized input-output tables and estimates of interregional trade flows, followed by the allocation of imports between intermediate and final consumption. The resulting model enables a more accurate analysis of sectoral and territorial linkages, as well as the development of regional policy measures that account for interregional cooperation.
