Abstract <p>The reaction of <i>N</i>-substituted 3-[(4-methylphenyl)sulfanyl]maleimide with dicyclopentylzinc afforded in high yield 1,4-conjugate addition product of the <i>C</i>-nucleophile to the α,β-unsaturated carbonyl system of the maleimide. This reaction is the first example of the uncatalyzed addition of an organozinc reagent to maleimide derivative.</p>

The reaction of N-substituted 3-[(4-methylphenyl)sulfanyl]maleimide with dicyclopentylzinc afforded in high yield 1,4-conjugate addition product of the C-nucleophile to the α,β-unsaturated carbonyl system of the maleimide. This reaction is the first example of the uncatalyzed addition of an organozinc reagent to maleimide derivative.
