Abstract <p>Oxidative coupling of aromatic amines with 3-aryl-3-oxopropanenitriles in the presence of selenium(IV) oxide gave the corresponding 2-arylimino-3-oxopropanenitriles. Similar reactions of arylamines with propanedinitrile afforded 2-(arylimino)propanedinitriles.</p>

Abstract

Oxidative coupling of aromatic amines with 3-aryl-3-oxopropanenitriles in the presence of selenium(IV) oxide gave the corresponding 2-arylimino-3-oxopropanenitriles. Similar reactions of arylamines with propanedinitrile afforded 2-(arylimino)propanedinitriles.
