Abstract <p>A procedure has been developed for electrophilic addition of 1,2-, 1,3-, and 1,4-diols to 4-methyli­dene-1,3-dioxolane using trifluoroacetic acid as catalyst. Conditions have been found for the predominant formation of monoadducts in 31–70% yield.</p>
