Influence of Bases of Different Nature in the Cross-Coupling Reaction of p-Xylene and p-Iodonitrobenzene
摘要
Abstract
The influence of organic and inorganic bases and their mixtures on the yield of 2,5-dimethyl-4′-nitrobiphenyl in the cross-coupling reaction of p-xylene and p-iodonitrobenzene catalyzed by a phenanthroline platinum(II) complex has been studied. It has been shown that the most effective base is a 50% aqueous solution of KOH, which is explained by the high thermodynamic activity of the hydroxide ion and the low thermodynamic activity of water in this system.
