Influence of Coordination Site Arrangement on the Luminescence of Eu(III) Tetrakis-β-Diketonates

Abstract
[(EuL3)(H2O)(MeOH)](MeOH), a convenient precursor to heterometallic complexes, has been synthesized for the first time using a functionalized lithium CF3-β-diketonate. Photoluminescent properties of a series of solid heterometallic europium(III) diketonates with the isomeric [EuL4] structure, prepared from the acetal-containing CF3-β-diketonate, have been investigated. The luminescent parameters of the tetrakis-diketonates [LiEuL4(H2O)](CH3CN), [(EuL3)(LiL)(MeOH)], as well as the new [(KEuL4)(H2O)]n, have been compared.
