Abstract <p>A new method was developed for obtaining dibenzo[<i>a</i>,<i>j</i>]xanthenylphenols by condensation of natural and synthetic hydroxybenzaldehydes with β-naphthol in boiling trichloroethylene using the sulfonic cation exchanger FIBAN-K1 as a catalyst. The esters were prepared by acylation of dibenzo[<i>a</i>,<i>j</i>]xanthenylphenols with nicotinic, isonicotinic and 1,2-azole-3-carboxylic acid chlorides in methylene chloride in the presence of triethylamine.</p>

Abstract
