Abstract <p>Mannich bases were obtained in yields up to 98% by a multicomponent reaction between β-naphthols, paraformaldehyde and cycloalkylamines under mechanosynthesis conditions in a ball mill. Structure of the products was proven by <sup>1</sup>H and <sup>13</sup>C NMR spectroscopy methods. The photophysical properties of some of the obtained compounds were studied, a strong fluorescent response towards picric acid was shown with a Stern–Volmer constant of <i>K</i><sub>sv</sub> ≈ 0.7 × 10<sup>5</sup> M<sup>–1</sup>.</p>

Abstract
