Abstract <p>O-Nitration reactions of betulin and trioxylupane under the action of a nitric acid and acetic anhydride mixture were studied, and effective approaches to the production of mono-, di-, and trinitroesters of the betulin series were developed. A one-stage method for the production of 2,3-seco-28-oxo-19β,28-epoxy-18a-oleane-2,3-dicarboxylic acid from betulin under the action of fuming nitric acid was proposed.</p>
