Abstract

An approach to geometric 3D inversion of frequency sounding data in technologies with horizontal grounded source is considered. A description of mathematical models for solving forward and inverse problems with numerical–analytical calculation of sensitivities to the initial model parameters is presented. The results of applying the proposed approach to the inversion of field data, confirming its effectiveness, are also provided. The influence of inhomogeneities in the host medium located laterally with respect to the survey profiles is analyzed. It is shown that the influence of such lateral inhomogeneities can be significant, and neglecting them may reduce the resolution of the technique. An analysis of the induced polarization effect for various signal decay parameters is carried out.
