Biome and Climate Quantitative Reconstructions in the Northwestern European Russia during the Holocene
摘要
Abstract
The article presents vegetation and climate reconstructions using quantitative methods (biomization and best modern analogues) based on pollen data from Petrovskoye Lake and Kosilovo Mire deposits, located in the marginal zone of the Valdai glaciation. The reconstructions cover the entire Holocene, during which mixed forests dominated. Five contrasting vegetation transitions are recorded: approximately 10 000, 9200, 7000, 4200, and 1200 years ago. In the Early and Middle Holocene, climate was the driver of these changes, and only the last transitions was driven also by anthropogenic factors, which are recorded using quantitative methods beginning around 4200 and 1200 cal BP.
