Abstract

The development of the African swine fever epizootic in Russia is considered through the analysis of official information and literary sources. The weak effectiveness of measures to prevent the spread of infection in both domestic and wild populations has been confirmed. The continuing negative role of small producers in the spread of infection is shown. Regions with the most unfavorable situation have been identified, where outbreaks of infection have been occurring for a long time. The change in the nature of the course of the epizootic in the North Caucasus is shown. A dependence of the number of outbreaks on the density in the wild population was revealed. Emphasis is placed on the need to study the processes of natural disinfection of the territory after an outbreak. It has been proposed to ban regular depopulation of wild boar as a preventative measure due to its ineffectiveness.
