On the Issue of Improving GLONASS through the Use of Advanced Laser and Quantum Optical Technologies

The task of improving the characteristics of GLONASS (part of the broader GNSS infrastructure) is considered in the context of the development prospects of other global satellite navigation systems. Key areas include research and development related to the integration of advanced laser and quantum optical hardware into the technological processes of orbital constellation operation. The main factors that currently hinder the joint processing of measurements generated onboard and on the ground from various sources are discussed. Ways to eliminate these factors are proposed by developing and implementing special information technologies for comparing time scales and digitizing measurements and clarifying delays in the functioning paths of optical hardware. The results of experiments on processing the measurements generated in this way and evaluating the parameters listed above are presented. Conclusions are formulated regarding the possible use of hardware and information technologies in the interests of improving the accuracy characteristics of GLONASS.
