Abstract <p>A kinetic approximation is used to analyze the effect of the beats between incident and reflected waves in the vicinity of the linear mode conversion region in magnetized plasma. It is shown that as a result, spatial modulations of the density profile of the equilibrium plasma and external magnetic field occur. The specific case of the Wendelstein 7-X stellarator plasma is considered.</p>

A kinetic approximation is used to analyze the effect of the beats between incident and reflected waves in the vicinity of the linear mode conversion region in magnetized plasma. It is shown that as a result, spatial modulations of the density profile of the equilibrium plasma and external magnetic field occur.
