Abstract <p>This paper is a popular science essay on the Solar System. The basic data on the evolution of ideas about the solar system are briefly outlined. A brief description of its structure, the types of major bodies comprising it, and the fundamental principles of the modern structure of the Solar System have been presented. The effect of the law of gravity on the motion of bodies in the solar system, the effect of gravity on the shape of celestial bodies, and tidal interactions have been described.</p>
