Abstract <p>the effectiveness of a collector pressing method in the process of spark plasma sintering for the improvement the optical and physico-mechanical properties of transparent MAS ceramics with an increased shape factor has been confirmed. It has been shown that transparent MAS ceramics with an increased shape factor (0.36) can be successfully manufactured by the method of spark plasma sintering combined with a collector pressing method. The optical characteristics and elastoplastic characteristics are comparable or superior to the optical characteristics of ceramics obtained using a standard uniaxial pressing method, and also the studied samples demonstrate a smaller crystallite size.</p>
