<p>The effect of low-intensity electromagnetic field (EMF) on the sensitivity of <i>Daphnia magna</i> Straus, 1820 to two model toxicants (potassium dichromate K<sub>2</sub>Cr<sub>2</sub>O<sub>7</sub> and cadmium sulfate 3CdSO<sub>4</sub>·8H<sub>2</sub>O) was studied. Two modes of the effect of EMF with a frequency of 30 MHz were used: with a constant amplitude and in the mode of amplitude manipulation (AM) with a frequency of 50 Hz. The effect of EMF on the sensitivity of <i>Daphnia</i> was estimated by a change in the survival of crustaceans placed in toxicant solutions after the effect of EMF. Differences in the sensitivity of <i>Daphnia</i> irradiated with EMF to the studied toxicants were manifested in the dynamics of a decrease in the survival in salt solutions during 96 h of exposure. Differences between the effects of cadmium and dichromate on crustaceans irradiated in the AM mode were the most noticeable. To analyze the inheritance of the traits, a comparison of the effects of heavy metals on the survival of offspring in directly irradiated females (series I) and non-irradiated offspring in irradiated females (series II) was made. The offspring of <i>Daphnia</i> from irradiated females (series II) was characterized by a higher resistance to toxicants as compared with the series I. To explain the increased resistance of offspring of irradiated crustaceans, a possibility of triggering the adaptive mechanisms to a damaging informational effect of EMF on the genetic material of females is discussed.</p>
