Abstract <p>In the present study, a total of 12 different localities in Artvin, Rize, and Trabzon provinces of Türkiye were observed to detect habitat preferences of <i>Darevskia derjugini</i>. The alignment of MaxEnt modeling outputs with the data gathered from field studies was assessed. Coordinate data from 188 distinct localities of <i>D. derjugini</i>, as reported in the literature and collected in this study, were used. Our results showed that the environmental factors having the greatest impact on the habitat preference of Derjugin’s lizard were ruggedness, elevation, Bio9, Bio2, and EVI. We observed that individuals of <i>D. derjugini</i> prefer habitats including plants such as the Alder, nettles, ferns, the Rhododendron, and blackberries, and are typically found no more than 80–100 m from the stream.</p>
