The Barremian Stage in Northern Siberia and Its Evidence by Microfossils (Foraminifers, Ostracodes, Marine, and Terrestrial Palynomorphs)

The Barremian biostratigraphy on microfossils is refined and detailed for Siberia based on a comparative analysis with coeval foraminiferal, ostracod, and dinocyst assemblages from the Barents Sea shelf, the Pechora Plate, and various regions of Europe. The studies show that foraminiferal and ostracod zones/local zones KF5/KF6 and KO4 contain species characteristic of the uppermost Hauterivian and lowermost Barremian. It provides a revision of stratigraphic position of these biostratigraphic units. Siberian microfaunal biostratigraphic units are established for the first time in the upper part of the Barremian and lowermost Aptian (KF7, KF8, KO5). The results of biostratigraphic analysis of Barremian dinocyst assemblages demonstrate their significant potential for interregional correlations. The correlation level based on spores and pollen is established in the middle part of the Barremian that provides the comparison with Transbaikalia, Mongolia and China.
