Precursors of Geomagnetic Storms Based on Combined Processing of Muon Hоdoscope–Neutron Monitor System Observations Using Neural Networks

Abstract
A method has been proposed for calculating the precursors of geomagnetic storms based on the combined processing of observations from the URAGAN muon hodoscope system and neutron monitors and the use of neural networks. Estimates of the precursors were used to predict geomagnetic storms. The developed method is intended for fundamental research into extreme processes in the heliosphere. The effectiveness of the precursors and predictions of geomagnetic storms for the observed data has been improved. The paper demonstrates a good example of the use of neural networks to solve an important geophysical problem.
