Abstract <p>The results of paleogeographic studies within the Kolvitsa hollow (southwestern Kola Peninsula) are presented. A marine terrace, which upper age limit is fixed by a buried mussel bank dated to 9.4 cal kyr BP, is leaned to a complex of glaciofluvial and glaciolacustrine sediments, which formed during the degradation of the last glacial sheet approximately 14.1–12.2 kyr ago. Data on diatom and malacofaunistic analyses show the transition from a highly freshened icy marine basin to a deeper one and then to warmer littoral sedimentation conditions during marine regression. Gradual transition from marine to freshwater sedimentation at the beginning of the Middle Holocene is also registered in lacustrine sediments of a small lake, which is located in a glaciokarst basin, which was a response to regional marine regression in the first half of the Holocene.</p>
