Abstract <p>The results of U–Pb (ID-TIMS, single grain) of monazite from aluminous gneisses (Chupa belt, Belomorian province) define the age of two metamorphic events associated with the formation of the Belomorian and Lapland–Kola orogens (the age of monazite is 2736 ± 30 and 1857 ± 4 Ma, respectively). These monazite ages are consistent with results of local U–Th–Pb (LA-ICP-MS) geochronological studies of zircon with Paleoproterozoic age of rims and 2809 age of cores 2809 ± 17 Ma.</p>
