Abstract <p>Large glacial superfloods on Earth have led to the formation of a distinct type of landscape, whose surface area and features became identifiable only with the advent of remote sensing. Evidence for these phenomena has been identified in various regions worldwide during the latter half of the 20th and early 21st centuries. One notable example is the outburst of paleolake Darhad, which resulted from the failure of an ice dam in the Shishkhid-Gol River valley (the upper Yenisei). This dammed lake, with an estimated water volume of approximately 373 km<sup>3</sup>, was situated within the Darhad Basin and is believed to have been the causative agent of the most significant megaflood in the mountains of South Siberia during the final phase of the Late Pleistocene glaciation. The Yenisei River valley, which was impacted by the floods for over 4000 km, has been the subject of research by scientists from various countries. The results of these studies indicate that the valley contains a variety of diluvial landscapes. The Yenisei megaflood is the third largest in North Asia, surpassed only by the Altai and Vitim floods.</p>
