Exogenous GABA Application Enhances Fruit Yield and Quality of Cherry Tomato under Cadmium Stress
摘要
γ-Aminobutyric acid (GABA) has been proven to be widely involved in plant responses to abiotic stresses. However, its mechanism in regulating the quality of cherry tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum var. cerasiforme A. Gray) fruits under cadmium (Cd) stress remains unclear. In this study, the cherry tomato cultivar ‘Lvfeicui’ was used to investigate the regulatory effects of exogenous GABA (50 μM) on fruit development and quality under Cd stress (50 μM). The results demonstrated that exogenous GABA application reduced Cd accumulation in tomato fruits while enhancing nutritional quality indicators, including vitamin C, soluble sugars, free amino acids, and total phenolic compounds. Furthermore, GABA supplementation improved the balance of mineral nutrients in cherry tomato fruits. Therefore, under Cd stress conditions, the application of exogenous GABA not only significantly increased the fruit yield and quality of cherry tomatoes, but also effectively inhibited the accumulation of Cd in the fruits.
