Stories about the Decembrists in 19th- and Early 20th-Century Russian Prose: Origins, Functioning, and Structure
摘要
Abstract
Drawing on a range of texts—some popularly known, others rarely examined by scholars—this article reconstructs the dramatic process by which Russian-language fiction came to interpret the events and figures of December 14, 1825. The main trajectories and stages of this process have been identified; the factors influencing it have been identified. Questions regarding which specific individuals and events became the focus of fictionalization and which stylistic and rhetorical techniques were used in this process are examined in the context of successive social and literary contexts.
