Decembrist Museums in Siberia
摘要
Abstract
The role of Siberian museums in preserving the historical memory of the Decembrists is examined. Currently, eight Decembrist museums and several major exhibitions dedicated to the Decembrists operate in Eastern and Western Siberia. The chronology of the museums’ creation and the results of their activities represent the history of the Decembrists’ experiences in penal servitude and exile in various parts of Siberia. The large memorial and landmark collections assembled by Siberian museums make it possible to showcase various aspects of the lives of the Decembrists, their families, and Siberian society of the time.
