Abstract <p>This article examines the consumer cooperatives of the Decembrists, as studied by Soviet historians, focusing primarily on the Big Artel and Small Artel teams, founded during their exile in Siberia. This study analyzes the main concepts of Soviet historiography that viewed the Decembrists’ consumer societies as both economic and ideologically based fraternal communities. It presents the perspective of Soviet scholars who regarded the Decembrists as the founders of the cooperative movement in Russia. Overall, Soviet historiography established the conceptual framework for viewing the Decembrist cooperatives as a continuation and development of the Decembrist movement after 1825.</p>
