Between West and East: Ukrainian Political Thought of the Early Twentieth Century as the Foundation of the Modern Geopolitical Worldview of the Ukrainian Elite

Abstract
This article examines the ideological and political origins of the contemporary geopolitical worldview of the Ukrainian elite based on Ukrainian political thought of the early twentieth century, during the penultimate period of Russia’s imperial weakening. The authors classify ideas and analyze their essence from the perspective of the geopolitical and civilizational choices of their bearers, dividing them into pro-Russian, anti-Russian, and indigenous. The methodology used is a synthesis of discourse analysis and geopolitical approach.
