Models of Folding and Unfolding in the General Evolution of the Universe

The English term protein folding retains its original metaphorical and figurative character. The word folding continues to be polysemic both in everyday speech and in scientific parlance. In the vein of Wittgenstein’s language games, the words folding, grounding, modeling patterning, and others, as well as their Russian correspondences, are tested with the help of speech-thought tryouts. Paradoxical mishaps of the trials indicate a kind of psychoverbal fallacy, which provokes a misperception of developing biological and social phenomena and processes of emerging, evolving, coding, programming, etc., as data-based static “hard objects” or “things apart”. This fallacy is entrenched in the prevailing linguistic apparatus and traditional grammar, as well as in classical logic and outdated positivist dogmas of science. The urgent scientific task is to find ways to overcome the psychoverbal fallacy. To this end it is necessary to distinguish the processes and their results as clearly as possible, both by means of traditional linguistic and logical apparatus and by means of communicative experiments. In particular, the paper focuses on modi operandi of processes, their multimodal combination, as well as subsequent embedding, embodying, and grounding. The analysis then turns to fundamental patterns of folding. These are eigenforms and the fractals they generate. All of these, in the end, help to reevaluate both the processes of folding of the double helix of the genome and the resulting outcome of protein “body”, as well as the folding of acts of semiosis and obtaining its resultant “texts” and the “inscribed” executable algorithms.
