Abstract <p>This article investigates the evolution of the Soviet political system in Southern Sakhalin and the Kuril Islands from 1945 to 1952, when these territories were integrated into the Soviet Union. The&#xa0;impact of postwar policy on administrative, economic, and cultural transformations in the region is analyzed. Particular attention is paid to the economic situation on the islands, as well as the political and social transformations initiated by the Soviet government. This study provides a deeper understanding of the mechanisms of Sovietization and their impact on the subsequent socioeconomic development of the region within the Soviet Union.</p>
