US Animal Husbandry in the 21st Century: The State and Trends of Development

Livestock products are an integral part of a complete human diet, and therefore stable provision of them to the population are important indicators of economic well-being and a component of food security in any country. However, the production of these products is extremely uneven over the planet’s territory. By now, there are several regions where their production is sufficient both to meet the region’s own needs and for exports. As a rule, these are countries with significant natural resources that can be used for agricultural purposes. Among them, the United States is the largest producer and supplier of animal products to the global agricultural market. This was facilitated not only by the availability of natural resources but also by significant technological and organizational achievements in this branch of agriculture. The place of the United States in the world in the production of livestock products is analyzed in this article, as well as trends and factors in the production of various types of the products.
