Was Stalin’s Collectivization Inevitable? Peasantry and Power in the Context of Industrial Modernization
摘要
Abstract
The thesis is substantiated that Stalin’s collectivization in its implemented form was a natural result of the grain procurement crisis of 1927, which was caused primarily by “war alarm” (“external factor”). The reaction of the authorities and the peasantry to it gave an irreversible character to the way out of the “grain procurement crisis” by emergency measures, and these in turn led to forced collectivization.
