Abstract <p>The main hydrological and morphological features of the Loire River mouth area are considered. The main attention is paid to the dynamics of water and sediments at the Loire estuary under the influence of seasonal fluctuations in river runoff and tides and estuary reconstruction work. The evolution of the estuary during the Holocene and the patterns of modern erosion-accumulative processes are characterized.</p>
