Abstract

In this work, the authors improve the installation for treating water with a plasma discharge in a cavitation field. The new reactor configuration allows for the treatment of water with increased electrical conductivity and mineralization (up to 5 g/L). This is achieved by increasing the reactor’s cavitation region by creating an idle section, which acts as an additional resistance and reduces the leakage current arising from ionic conductivity under conditions of increased mineralization. The use of the new reactor design significantly expands the area of potential practical application of this installation. Water used in agriculture for irrigation is usually characterized by increased total mineralization of plants and soaking seeds. During the work, the installation is also tested in an aeroponic system for germinating seeds of the spring barley variety “Mamluk.” It is determined that the use of water treated with plasma discharge leads to an increase in the content of vitamin C by 29% and total nitrogen and phosphorus by 25 and 13%, respectively.
