Abstract <p>The plastic deformation of a helical relief on the shaft surface by electromechanical smoothing is considered. It is shown that the rational shape of the cross section of the helical relief is a sinusoid. The results of the analytical study can be used to determine rational process conditions for hardening or restoring the surfaces of parts.</p>
