<p><b>Abstract</b>—The works describing the results of experimental and theoretical investigations of the formation of self-baking electrodes and the parameters of ore-smelting furnaces (OSFs) influencing electrode formation and operation are reviewed. The reported data are generalized. Recommendations for the use of OSFs with allowance for the effect of their parameters on the electrode operating conditions are made.</p>
