<p>Abstract—Deposited Fe/MgAl<sub>2</sub>O<sub>4</sub> catalysts modified with La are prepared by either joint or sequential impregnation of the magnesium-aluminum spinel support. The results obtained using the methods of temperature programmed reduction (TPR) and in situ magnetometry show that the catalyst prepared by promoting spinel with lanthanum is reduced more efficiently than the catalysts synthesized using the other techniques of lanthanum incorporation. The adsorption and reduction properties of these catalysts are compared based on the results of the in situ magnetometry, the low-temperature adsorption of nitrogen, and the IR spectroscopy of adsorbed CO. It is shown that the presence of lanthanum in the catalyst accelerates the reduction of iron oxides to iron.</p>
