Abstract <p>Synthesis of a nickel catalyst for hydrogenation of carbon dioxide to methane on a support obtained by pyrolysis of rice husk (RH) has been proposed. The original synthetic approach involves annealing of rice husk in the presence of nickel nitrate at 500–700°C, which reduces the labor, time, and energy costs of synthesis. A comparison of nickel catalysts obtained using different calcination conditions in different numbers of stages shows that the proposed method ensures an activity (18.8 h<sup>–1</sup>) comparable to the literature data. Promotion with Mn significantly improves its performance. This approach may be of great importance for the development of efficient catalysts for CO<sub>2</sub> hydrogenation to methane and subsequent use of rice husk in catalysis.</p>
