Abstract <p>Cathode materials based on Li<sub>2</sub>CoMn<sub>3</sub>O<sub>8</sub> solid solutions have been synthesized by a combined method and their characteristics have been studied. It has been found that Li<sub>2</sub>CoMn<sub>3</sub>O<sub>8</sub> has high electrochemical properties, which makes it a promising cathode material for lithium-ion batteries, an alternative to LiCoO<sub>2</sub>. Using X-ray diffraction analysis and spectrometry, the resulting phases have been identified, and their chemical composition has been determined. The structure and morphology have been studied by electron microscopy and Brunauer–Emmett–Teller methods. A technological scheme for fabricating Li<sub>2</sub>CoMn<sub>3</sub>O<sub>8</sub> has been proposed, which ensures the formation of nanosized samples with a high specific surface area and improved electrochemical characteristics. The electrochemical properties of the synthesized samples are discussed.</p>

Abstract
