<b>Abstract</b>— <p>The Gulf of Mexico is one of the best-studied marine areas in terms of fish composition, especially along the United States coast. In this study, we report the occurrence of two species <i>Cookeolus japonicus</i> and <i>Gephyroberyx darwinii</i> (266 and 355 mm standard length, respectively), within the Mexican waters. <i>C. japonicus</i> is the first record in the Gulf of Mexico and <i>G. darwinii</i> expands its distribution toward the southwest part of the gulf. Morphometric and meristic data for both species are also presented.</p>
