Abstract

It was established that atomic hydrogen absorbed on coal dust, when in contact with a methane–air mixture, expanded the range of methane flame propagation, which was manifested by a decrease in the lower concentration limit. Coal dust with adsorbed atomic hydrogen intensified combustion and flame propagation. Under the conditions of the present experiment, methane ignited first. The observed patterns confirmed the basic tenets of the theory of heterogeneous development of reaction chains.
